The Riverside Hideaway is Mike and Cathy's favorite place in the world. This is their private river house, about 2 hours away from San Marcos. Available for those desiring total peace and country seclusion, the river house is a 1930's (RUSTIC!) rock lodge with an attached guest apartment. With three bedrooms and a 4-bed sleeping porch, the house can handle as many as 10 (we usually cap it at 6) , although because of its unique floor plan, it's equally appropriate for just a single couple. It is perfect for family getaways and vacation weeks, or for several friends just getting "out of town" for the weekend. The house is on three acres of land about 5 miles from town, on a hill above the clear and sparkling Medina River, with winding stone steps down to the water. Tubing, canoeing, swimming, hiking, and 'just being lazy' are the property's chief attractions. It has fireplaces in both kitchen and living room, a long stone patio overlooking the river, outdoor barbecue pit, swingset and sandbox, and a magnificent view. Nearby Bandera is pure Texas fun with its cowboy dance halls, rodeos, horses, hunting, and hayrides. It is within forty-five minutes of Lost Maples State Park, Fiesta Texas, Seaworld, Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and San Antonio. Please note, Bed and Breakfast services are not available at the river house--it is a lodge-type rental where everything from bedmaking to cooking duties are up to the renters. Guests with lots of time to spend in the Hill Country often enjoy the experience of both the Crystal River Inn and the Riverside Hideaway--ask us for a package quote re including both in your itinerary. ***Please note that Bandera Hideaway is not officially part of Inn; it is Mike and Cathy's private residence. Many policies differ from the inn's, including payment and cancellation policies. To avoid problems, please be absolutely clear on these at the time of booking. Weekday rates are $175 per night; weekend rates are $400 for 2 nights (and might not be divided into separate nights; please inquire). Finally, only the main house has central air and heat; the annex does just fine with fans and space heaters.
