Fall and Winter Area Activities and Events Magically the leaves turn to red and gold waiting to be viewed from numerous bike paths and scenic drives. Your last chance for the final rounds of golf, hooking a salmon in the river, and enjoying the various fall festivals. The WestShore Bed & Breakfast Association innkeepers have many suggestions for experiencing the autumn season. Winter brings a special magic to the region with powdery snow and cold temperatures. Muskegon's Winter Sports Complex offers groomed x-country trails, ice skating and, don't forget to check out the luge run for an Olympic-style adventure. Pigeon Creek in Grand Haven and Owassipe Scout Reservation outside Whitehall also offer x-country trails, dogsled races and other outdoor winter activities. Winter festivals, snowmobiling, ice fishing and ice boating on the area lakes round out the outdoor activities. Indoors, there are the Muskegon Fury hockey games. After a brisk day outside, warm up at a WestShore B&B Association bed and breakfast. Innkeepers will be happy to fill a mug with hot chocolate and pass around a plate of cookies.
