Bend is located in Deschutes County, at the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountain in Central Oregon, and spans 32 square miles. Tourism is the main source of income for the city of Bend, and because of this, the city is well suited to many different types of visitors and has a wide range of accommodations. Your stay at a Bend bed and breakfast or Bend inn will reveal just how much the people of Bend are willing to cater to your every need. The Bend Film Festival is held in October and salutes the independent films and the mastery of film making. LibertyBank Balloons Over Bend is a colorful display in July at The Old Mill District. Besides the stunning balloons, the live music, vendors, food, and art displays offer something to please all ages. Just ten miles from Bend, the Newberry National Volcanic Monument is in the Deschutes National Forest. There are two alpine lakes, campgrounds, and during the winter season, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. If camping isn't your thing, you should consider staying at one of Bend's fine B&B establishments. Fun for the whole family, the Working Wonders Children's Museum is an interactive experience. Exhibits include art, culture, and science. Crossings at the Riverhouse is arguable Bend's best steakhouse. On N Highway 97, Crossings has a menu of prime beef and seafood, and has live entertainment and deck dining.
