Rinse the fresh strawberries and fresh blueberries and drain. Dry with a towel to remove any excess water. Remove all stems and leaves from the fruit. Cut the strawberries into small pieces and mix with the blueberries in a large bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of water, 2 tablespoons of white sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla (or amaretto) to taste. Mix well and set in the refrigerator for 5 minutes. The fruit, water, sugar and extract will make a wonderful syrup. The enzymes in the fruit meld well with these ingredients and the flavors compliment each other. ENJOY!
