"One of the top 10 most romantic Inns" - American Historic Inns
To discover the feeling of a true bed and breakfast in the South of France, plan your visit to L'Auberge Provençale Inn & Restaurant in White Post, Virginia. Just one hour from the DC beltway and two hours from Baltimore, our charming Northern Virginia bed and breakfast is located in the heart of Virginia's wine and hunt country.
L'Auberge Provençale Inn & Restaurant beckons you to explore the growth of spring, the deep shade of summer, the brilliance of fall and the solitude of winter in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. We will renew your spirit with superb cuisine and attentive service that is the center of any true French L'Auberge.
Our fourth-generation innkeeper Alain Borel from Avignon, France, and his wife Celeste will transport you to a true Auberge of Provence to enjoy romantic accommodations and nationally-acclaimed French cuisine.
Travel the back roads of picturesque Clarke County, framed by the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. While enjoying the area, try your hand at antiquing, horseback riding, hiking, biking, golfing, canoeing, or ballooning; or simply wile away the day on the spacious porch of the main house with a glass of wine, enjoying the simpler pleasures, a respite from the otherwise hectic world.
Dine evenings at one of the most outstanding French restaurants in Northern Virginia! The main manor house Mt. Airy, circa 1753, consists of three intimate dining rooms. Dinner is a prerequisite during your weekend or holiday overnight stay, and with two distinct menus, there is something to please everyone! We offer casual a la carte, or the more formal Chef's prix fixe with optional wine pairing. Using herbs and vegetables from the inn's own garden and the freshest local ingredients, Chef Alex Sakelakos creates elegant cuisine, each a picture to please the eye as well as the palate.
Complement your dining experience with excellent wines from our extensive wine cellar featuring over 1,000 labels. Our multi-course Chef's Tasting menu comes with an optional wine pairing, carefully selected by the inn's talented sommelier, Christian Borel. Known as one the most romantic restaurants in Virginia, L'Auberge Provençale Inn & Restaurant offers the perfect fine dining experience!
After dinner, return to your guest room to enjoy tastefully and individually decorated ensuite accommodations with fireplaces and fabulous views of the Virginia countryside. Or lounge on the back lawn in Adirondack chairs next to the firepit and take in the night sky.
In the morning, a full gourmet breakfast is included featuring fresh homemade croissants, breakfast breads and local coffee. This can be enjoyed in the privacy of your room or in our elegant sunroom. Entrees may include a seasonal quiche, delicious omelet, brioche French toast casserole or a savory open faced BLT. It's no wonder that L'Auberge Provençale Inn & Restaurant is well known as one of the top restaurants in Virginia!
It is a perfect setting for dress rehearsal dinners, weddings, business dinners and corporate retreats. Special package rates are available for small-business conferences mid-week. Give us a call and we will help you arrange the details for your special occasion.
Our sister property, Villa la Campagnette, is located approximately three miles from the main inn. It is situated on 18 lovely landscaped acres with old growth trees and gardens. The building features a large brick patio with an outdoor swimming pool, and houses a queen suite and two king suites. It is ideal for a group of friends who want to have the place to themselves, or couple's searching to be more off the beaten path. The pool is open from Memorial Day through the end of September weather permitting.

Many thanks to Chef Alain and Celeste Borel for sharing their own secrets with BBOnline.com! Why do most travelers stay at your inn? Usually to celebrate a special occasion: birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, weddings. Also, we are known for our stellar, highly rated restaurant La Table Provencale, where we serve fresh farm-to-table cuisine using the best of the season.

That we are only an hour from DC, but transport our guests to the South of France. Our gardens and orchards are breathtaking and our grounds are immaculate. The guests feel a world away, just minutes away in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit? Aside from our being a destination for the gourmand and discerning traveler, we are located in the part of Virginia where some of the best Virginia wineries are located. Wine touring is the number one activity.
What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn? That is pretty hard to answer. I guess that we exceeded all expectations and we are 6 stars with our gracious service, beautiful ambience and fabulous food. That we are a romantic spot where lifelong memories are made.
What’s the best kept secret about the area? Even though we are located in the country, there is so much to do.

Executive Chef Alex Sakelakos and his team of chefs create elegant dishes with definite seasonings as in Provence, with a light hand on the sauces; each creation pleases the eye as well as the palate.
Our menus change frequently because we only use what is best of each season.

Complement your dining experience with a Wine Spectator award winning wine list with excellent wines from our extensive cellar featuring French and American Chateau wines, as well as various appellations throughout the world.
As a designated "Green" Inn by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, we are striving to support sustainable farming in the area using fresh organic meats, cheese, eggs, and produce.
Our menus feature many items from our own backyard. We are constantly foraging for fresh, wild products to utilize on our menu, as well as tending to our own vegetables, herbs, and fruit orchard. We procure as many ingredients as possible from local farmers and businesses as well.
Not only will you be eating the freshest possible cuisine prepared by the area's best chefs, but you will leave knowing you helped support the local economy and the environment.
