Breeden Inn Bed & Breakfast is pleased to announce the addition of RETREAT ON MAIN, a two story late 19th century house to the Inn. RETREAT ON MAIN adds three luxury guest rooms with whirlpools for two, double vanity's, fireplaces, a conference/Gathering Place with a powder room and fireplace, plus a fully equipped period kitchen and laundry room for guest usage. A wonderful front porch views Main St. and 'Magnolia', an antebellum house occupied by union troops during the Civil War. A walk through the woodlands, or a few short steps on Main, leads to The Main House & Cottages.

In 1886, on land gifted by bride to be, Shadie Townsend's parents, Thomas Bouchier, an attorney, farmer and politician, had the house built as a wedding present to his bride during an era when cotton was king. Their wedding took place on the grounds. In 1981, the house was restored and became a bed and breakfast. The Inn was named in honor of the Archie P. Breeden family who resided in the home for 54 years. Today, this beautifully restored Beaux Arts Main House Southern mansion, Carriage House, Garden Cottage & Retreat on Main located in the heart of Bennettsville's Historic District, serves as a comfortable and quiet retreat from everyday busy-ness. What to do while you're here... De-stress. The Inn offers lovely winding gardens with a vast variety of trees and plantings. Six wonderful Southern porches, an IN-GROUND POOL, 3 goldfish-koi ponds and enticing hammocks. There are numerous settings to call your own for relaxation. Located 1 mile from the Inn, Lake Wallace offers a 1 1/2 mile walking trail which centers through the lake,providing a 3.3 mile round trip walk or run. Park benches offer resting spots to land for a breather,birding,picnicking,sunset watching, or a few romantic moments. A 1 1/2 mile wooded walk is elevated above and views the lake. Bike, stroll, or run our sidewalk and tree-lined streets. Complimentary bikes are available. Golfing and tennis are within 1 mile of the Inn. Antique local and nearby shops. Several local gift and clothing shops,the library,the City of Bennettsville's Fitness Center and a massage parlor are within walking distance. Each day brings new colorful and delicious dishes which are served from 7:00-8:30 in the English dining room, the breakfast parlor, the music parlor, library parlor, or on the shaded, "pretty as a picture" 32 columned wraparound veranda.

You will want to soak in the splendor of the Inn's wonderful porches, where wicker, rockers, swings, ceiling fans, container plantings, a vintage glider, a period joggling board, and hourly church bell chimes, provide a true Southern 'porch' experience.

Lavish in design and rich in memory, the Main House, Carriage House, Garden Cottage and Retreat on Main are filled with interesting antiques dating to the 1700s.
