Introduction
Sweetwater Farm is a grand old, stone mansion, sitting proud on a crest of 50 acres dating back to 1734. This land was given as a grant from William Penn to the Hemphill family. Sweetwater Farm is a majestic haven 20 minutes southwest of the Philadelphia Airport. It's in the heart of Historic Brandywine Valley, closely located to attractions, magnificent golf courses, fine dining and museums, yet secluded in the country side.
The original Quaker Farmhouse, built in 1734, consists of 3 guest rooms with 4 poster canopy beds, full private baths and air conditioning. The Manor House, which was an addition built in 1815, is more formal with 4 poster queen canopy beds, fireplaces and private baths. Upon entering this beautiful mansion, you arrive to a grand hallway leading to a stately, pillared porch, where you can enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the swimming pool and horse pastures.
All of the rooms have 12 foot ceilings and are furnished with fine antiques. This historic home features beautifully appointed sitting areas, a living room, a handsome billiard room and an elegant dining room. You can relax by a fire in any of these rooms.
In addition to the main house, the estate has 5 private cottages which are child and pet friendly. 3 out of the 5 cottages are equipped with full kitchens, a washer and dryer and fireplaces.
Start your morning with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, homemade muffins and a full breakfast.
Begin your day in the country. Unlike any other Bed and Breakfast, Sweetwater Farm has the reputation of a peaceful and tranquil environment. This provides a perfect setting for your getaway, family reunion or wedding (Click here for wedding information).
