Barclay Heights Bed & Breakfast at Smythe House, is owned and operated by David and Justine Smythe, accommodating hosts who live in an apartment on the ground level of the house; the other half of the ground level is public space for the guests to enjoy; first floor rooms include a foyer, a parlor with a piano, computer/internet nook, kitchen, dining room, deck, and grounds.
Smythe House is adjacent to the preserve, just walking distance from the scenic Hudson River and less than a mile away from town. Built in 1890, this three-story six bedroom Victorian Cottage is newly restored and comfortably furnished with beautiful antiques and eclectic artworks.
David is a professional chef and professor of culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. During his vacation time and weekends (for the past 20 years) David has devoted himself to the restoration of his home, with the consistent vision of a Bed & Breakfast at the Smythe House in Barclay Heights.
Justine, David's wife and partner of 15 years, is also a professional chef with a Bachelor's degree from the CIA and an MBA in International Hospitality from Cornell in Paris. She is also an experienced herbalist with a natural foods background.
