Enjoy the Ante-Bellum Days of the Old South at ...
The Ghent House - Historic Ohio River Home Established 1833
|
|
Ghent House is a gracious reminder of the antebellum days of the old South.
It was built in the usual style of the day - a central hall with rooms on
either side, kitchen and dining-room in back. A beautiful fantail window
and two English coach lights greet you at the front entrance.
An exciting new addition is a fully self-contained Garden Cottage adjacent to the Rose Garden.
Ghent House has a spectacular view of the Ohio River. Two slave walls, a
rose garden, gazebo and an English walking garden with 400 feet of
brick pathways - all overlook the beautiful river below. One can almost imagine a time when steamboats regularly passed by.
|
Crystal chandeliers, fireplaces, jacuzzis, antique beds and furniture,
private porch (overlooking the gardens and river) and private bath grace
each of the three guest rooms and the new Garden Cottage.
Guests enjoy the outdoor "Hot-Tub" for five! Bring your bathing suits. Large towels and robes are provided. Relax and enjoy the river view.
Awake mornings to the aroma of coffee or tea, then have your breakfast in
either the formal dining-room or the breakfast room overlooking the
Ohio River. There is much to entice the appetite:
homemade breads, fruit, juice, meat and egg dishes, and other specialties
prepared by both Diane and Wayne Young.
Go back in time to the Old South as you spend the night or weekend at
historic Ghent House Bed and Breakfast. "We're
sure you will enjoy and appreciate the charming blend of yesteryear with
modern fun and relaxation. Come as a guest - Leave as a friend."
